RENT-The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) - is a federally funded program that provides temporary rental assistance to individuals and families who are homeless as defined by HUD as Category 1 ( residing in a shelter or place not meant for human habitation). The application process involves a needs assessment in which clients who present the greatest need will be served first and work with their case manager on goals, budgeting, housing stability, crisis plans and exit strategies to ensure stable housing. Amount and duration of assistance will be determined based on outcomes from client interactions and progress, as 100% rental coverage is not guaranteed with the expectation of client contribution.
