LIHEAP
The Low-Income Household Energy Assistance Program (or LIHEAP) is designed to help low-income families meet the cost of home heating. It is not intended to pay your household's total energy costs, but rather to pay a portion of residential heating costs for eligible households. In most cases, benefits will be in the form of a credit applied to your utility company heating bill.
All households that apply for Energy Assistance will also have their applications submitted for the Weatherization Assistance Program at the same time, as the two programs have significant overlap. Other Energy Assistance programs include the Emergency Utility Disconnection program, which provides households in need a means to prevent critical utility disconnections.
